President’s Message

Hi everyone

Thanks to Dave Bender for sharing your agate pieces to us. Shows what you can do on your own to turn your passions into fashion.

We talked last month about going to the outings this summer. I have reserved my hotel in Sturgis for the May trip, and have a camping space for Nugget Lake in June

I was able to get a camping spot for camping at Muskellunge Park is $20 a day plus $8 reservation fee. You also need a state recreation passport for all state lands in Michigan. For non-residents it is $9 a day or $32 for the year.

This month Dean Race will be in to tell us about his mine claim in Chicken Alaska. It is always exciting to hear his stories. He will be bringing some of his concentrate gold bags for sale. They are $50 for the small bags and $150 for the big bags.

I will miss this month’s meeting as I will be bowling in Sparta on that day and you will most likely be gone by the time I could get there.

Until the creeks are flowing Mike Fait

Tomah Wisconsin GPAA Chapter Minutes February, 2017

Old Business:

The February meeting was held at the Town Hall at the Town of Lagrange, 22731 Flint Ave. on Route #21 west of Tomah Wisconsin on February 21st,   24 members and guests attended.

There was not speaker, but everyone had something interesting to bring to the club.  Dave Bender brought a cut & polished Montana Agate and spoke of all the work it takes to get the finished stone.  It takes a lot of time and patience, and something to do during the winter instead of prospecting for gold.  Mike talked about the upcoming outing to South Dakota, Michigan, Nugget Lake and about the Indiana Gold Show on October 21, & 22nd, 2017.

New Business:

Next meeting March 18th at the Lagrange Town Hall at the Town of Lagrange, 22731 Flint Ave. on Route #21 west of Tomah Wisconsin at 1:00pm.
