President’s Message

I would like to thank Gary Morrison for telling us about his tour of the Garrett Metal detector Factory in Texas and about prospecting in the area.

If anyone else has taken a trip to a prospecting location and would be willing to share that with the club let me know. Hot all of us can get out to everywhere we would like to but I do like to hear about those places.

The South Dakota trip is coming up in June of this year. Members are responsible for getting their own hotels or making their own camping arrangements for the weekend. If you can team up with other members that would save you some money for traveling and rooms. Ask around at the meetings if you would like to go with someone else and your schedule’s can match. I will be staying with Richard N. and Jeff H. on the trip.  The dig is at the Husker claim between Deadwood and Sturgis.

The GPAA has a new show on TV called Gold Trails hosted by Kevin Hougland. Unfortunately it is not on any of the stations around here. But you can still see the show on line at www.goldprospectors,org/goldtrails. On Facebook at www.facebook.com/gold trails TV.  GPAA site:www.goldprospectors.org if you a GPAA member. You will have to log on and register if you haven't already done so.

This month Dean Race is coming to talk about his gold dredging camp near Chicken AK. I have been there and it is quiet and adventure. You get to keep all the gold you find. Dean has a camp set up and all the equipment all you have to do is get to Fairbanks and his crew will do the rest. You will need a wet suit and your personal Items sleeping bag. He will give you a list of everything included and what you have to bring yourself.

Hope to see you at the meeting Mike Fait
