President’s Message

Hi All

This Month we are going to go to Nugget Lake County Park.  We will be eating around noon, and have a short meeting after. You need to stop at the office and pay to enter the park it is $5 per car load. We have a shelter reserved down the hill by the lake. The club will provide the meat and soda, water you bring a dish to pass. There is gold in the two creeks in the park it is small you won't get rich but everybody seems to be able to find some. Since the meeting is in August (the 15) I cannot guarantee how much water will be in the creeks. It may not be enough to run sluices remember no power equipment is used in Wisconsin. There is always enough water to pan. The number for Nugget Lake is 715-639-5611. I greatly doubt that they have any camping spots open for the weekend but you can check in case someone canceled. The address is 4351 County Rd HH Plum City, WI. 54761. See map in this issue

At the last meeting I told those who were there that we had a chance to explore an old mine site in Rudolph WI. I talked to Phil Oliver a professor at UW St. Point and he said we had permission from the DNR to metal detect the property but we can only use a trowel or small shovel to dig with. He left this message on my phone and I haven't been able to get a hold of him before I needed to get the presidents letter out. He said we were a go for the 9th of September. I hope he meant the 19 because that is a Saturday and the 9th is a Wednesday. I hope to get this clarified be the meeting in Nugget Lake. Watch for further updates in the next newsletter.

I went to Midstate metal detector hunt on Sunday. I didn't hunt but visited with friends. I saw several members there. They were having a good time even thou they got sore from detecting so long. There is a single day hunt near Cadott on august 29 hosted by the Three Seasons Treasure Hunters. See flyer in this issue.

See you in the creek Mike Fait
