My BIO by Bob Morgan

Born in Columbus, Nebraska in 1944(did they have maternity wards back then). Grew up on family farm in Kimball, Nebraska(one horse town)since the age of 3. Old farm boy at heart here(no phones back then in the country). Began accumulating rocks at age 12, thanks to my grade school teachers’ fiancé, who was the “King of Rocks” in Kimball, Nebr. Rocks temporarily gave way for a while when my eyes and heart finally opened to the presence of my child-hood sweetheart and finally married the love of my life, Mary Kay(an Irish gal-O’Brien)in July 1965, in Kimball. Mary Kay was born in Omaha, Nebr., (I keep putting her birth date in but it always disappears)! Four beautiful children came out of this marriage, all grown now with families of their own. Finally sold the farm and retired the old John Deere at age 18. Moved to Sioux Falls, S Dak in 1967, to accept a position with the Sioux Falls Police Dept.  Retired in 1988 and moved to Rapid City, the heart of the Black Hills, a rock hunting paradise and great gold prospecting area. It took an extra trailer just to move the rocks and rock equipment. Too much free time gave way to a full time job and presently Supervisor at Black Hills Molding in Rapid City. Operate a rock shop and an Internet business from home. It’s a great life. Presently involved with writing a book titled Western South Dakota – Rock and Mineral Collecting, complete with pictures, maps, directions, equipment plans and several other rock related information.(If anyone has some type of “home-made rock equipment” you would like to see in print, let me know. You will most certainly get credit for your offerings.  Hopefully it will be published by May 2004. Spring and summer months are filled with leading visitors to the rock hunting areas. Always willing to accommodate rock hunters wherever they are from. Just give a call. Life has been good!      “Keep On Rockin’”
